A recurring theme, whether for commercial application hosters, internal hosters, test centers, development centers, or similar enterprise groups, is that all of these run a number of landscapes of enterprise applications. While enterprise applications are extremely powerful and can drive entire organizations, they are also extremely complex and become a burden when it comes to provisioning and maintaining, thus not yet taking advantage of the benefits offered by private and public clouds.
Our Solution
The eCloudManager Virtual Landscape (VL) concept brings a complete Landscape as a Service (LaaS)™ offering to private and public enterprise clouds where complete enterprise application landscapes can be easily and rapidly provisioned, monitored, administered and delivered to end users as a single instance through a self-service enterprise portal. This provides enterprises with full control not only over their storage, compute and network resources, but also over the lifecycle of their enterprise applications.

» What is a Virtual Landscape?
Enterprise applications often comprise various interdependent components, such as application server, Webservers or database servers. These individual components are usually distributed across different physical or virtual servers. Within the eCloudManager, these servers are encapsulated into a logical grouping: a Virtual Landscape. The isolation of the landscape in a sandbox allows for the easy creation of templates, for the rapid deployment of new landscapes using these templates, and for cloning existing landscapes with no additional configuration steps necessary. Test, development or upgrade sandboxes can thus be easily instantiated, resulting in tremendous time (from weeks or days to hours) and cost savings.
» How Does It Work?
Virtual Landscape Manager
An essential component of every Virtual Landscape is the Virtual Landscape Manager™ (VLM), a pre-configured Linux appliance acting as a gateway for the encapsulation of the VL. In addition, the Virtual Landscape Manager provides the following functionalities:
- It stores the necessary functionalities for automating the provisioning of the Virtual Landscape
- It reduces or even completely eliminates manual post-cloning configuration steps
- It separates and protects the affected network segments
- It offers a variety of proxy services and support for overlay networks
- It controls and offers secure user access
