Delivering an open platform that can integrate with practically any resource in the data center, as well as with public cloud resources, the eCloudManager provides its customers with a one-console innovative cloud monitoring and management solution to abstract from the underlying complexity of the data center.
» How Does It Work?
The eCloudManager platform integrates directly with the infrastructure and application resources through the API, and relies on an
in-memory database to provide scalable access to these resources and to gather information from the various layers in the data center – application, compute, network and storage.
The platform applies a semantic engine to correlate this data so as to enable the user to see the connections between resources. Thus, eCloudManager’s user can monitor, manage and control
- multiple enterprise storage arrays,
- multiple virtual and physical compute infrastructures, and
- multiple Virtual Landscapes equipped with enterprise applications.
This allows administrators to see, for example, which applications are running on which Virtual Machine, which IP and VLAN are assigned to the VM, and which storage LUN is attached to that VM.
Providing a policy engine filled with pre-packaged policies that can be fully customized or extended to meet customer-specific requirements enterprises can
- set the underlying rules to meet their own needs, and
- determine when and what events they should receive notifications for,
thus dramatically simplifying and speeding up processes such as root cause analysis and error handling. Using the eCloudManager the relationship between the resources and the impact a storage error will for example have on the VM and applications are immediately visible to the administrator.
Moreover, aimed at enabling the easy consumption of infrastructure resources and enterprise applications, the eCloudManager leverages native functionalities of the data center through tight API integration to deliver faster and more efficient system instantiation capabilities. For example, advanced storage features such as thin provisioning and storage-assisted cloning and snapping, as well as hypervisor functionalities are used to enable the rapid provisioning of enterprise application workloads with little to no manual effort and with minimum use of infrastructure resources.
