The answer is yes and no.
Although a clone is a one-to-one copy of the source, at least the machines hardware finger print needs to be changed. The includes the system's serial number and the MAC addresses of the connected NICs. As long as your OS or your application does not bind to this kind of information, no additional changes are required after the clone is ready. However, if your OS or application binds itself to a specific hardware finger print, post-cloning steps are required. This is especially true for Microsoft Windows and SAP licenses.
Depending on your use-case you should verify if a renewal of the installed licenses is required or not. For example, if you provision test landscapes only for a few days, the evaluation licenses that usually get automatically activated, can be sufficient for your needs. Otherwise volume licenses will overcome the renewal of licenses for cloned systems when available.
