eCloudManager Infrastructure Edition

The Challenge

Today, there is no unified interface for virtualized CPU, storage and networking systems:

  • Setup and operation requires tools from different vendors, and often includes manual, error-prone processes
  • Customers may be stuck with a single vendor, and many of the enhanced features that storage hardware providers offer cannot be used from the virtualization environment due to poor integration.
  • Administrators use many different vendor-specific tools and need to manually sync, which is error prone
  • Advanced features of the storage hardware (i.e. snapshots, rapid cloning, backup features) cannot be used because no integrated management solution is available

True End-to-End Virtualization Management

With the eCloudManager Infrastructure Edition, fluidOps delivers the industry's first solution that fully integrates storage and virtualization technologies and offers their capabilities up in a unified view. This solution allows high-performance applications to be rolled out in an enterprise cloud utilizing multi-vendor server virtualization and storage technologies. This first release orchestrates VMware Virtual Infrastructure for server virtualization and NetApp filer technology for storage; EMC support will also be included in the eCM 3.0 release. In addition we are working on support for all other major virtualization and storage platforms – MSFT Hyper-V, Amazon EC2, Citrix XenServer and Open Source Xen/KVM on the hypervisor side, HP StorageWorks, Amazon S3/EBS and Lefthand Networks on the storage side.

One Place to Manage What You Need – Really!

Converging capabilities in one place allows to abstract from underlying system complexities and to provide a uniform GUI and wizard experience that makes up a large part of the value delivered. Access is available either within the browser-based eCloudManager environment or as a seamless plug-in in the vSphere GUI used for the VM management. This gives customers "One console to rule them all" – Now you can manage virtualization and storage through a single pane of glass!

Key Features

Manage multiple VirtualCenter instances and multiple storage arrays
Provides a unified view on all virtualized compute and storage resources in the data center. Enables enhanced virtualization management and monitoring features.
Storage-assisted offload clone
Clone VMs using your storage's cloning capabilities like Netapp's Enhanced FlexClone techniques.
LUN and virtual disk cloning based on the open-source VMFS driver
The eCloudManager provides a unified way for both LUN- as well as file based cloning for simple and targeted snapshots and restores.
Datastore cloning
Clone a datastore and all of its VMs to quickly provision not only single VMs but also complex landscape setups.
Mass deployment
Create hundreds or thousands of VM clones within a few minutes for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) or training use cases.
Manage raw device mapped LUNs
Drastically simplifies LUN management for high performance enterprise systems such as SAP or large databases.
Cluster Storage Consistency
Detect and fix errors in VMware storage connectivity. Ensure that shared storage is setup correctly within your VMware Cluster to avoid VM migration errors.
VMware vCenter Plugin
Manage your storage and clone VMs storage based from the management tool your are already used to. The eCloudManager comes with a full VMware vCenter plug-in integration to avoid error prone cross-management tool storage administration.
Standalone web-based UI
Clone VM without the need to have the VMware vCenter client installed at all. Multi VMware vCenter support will be coming soon.
